Description
Deliciously sweet fried apple pies made with tender apples and a flaky crust.
Ingredients

- 1 package pie dough or biscuit dough
- 2 medium apples, peeled and finely chopped
- 3 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch (optional)
- 2 cups vegetable or canola oil, for frying
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar (optional, for dusting)
Instructions
- In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Add apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Cook until soft and syrupy. Add cornstarch if needed. Let cool.
- Roll out dough to 1/8-inch thick. Cut into circles using a round cutter or bowl.
- Spoon cooled apple mixture onto half of each circle, leaving edge space.
- Fold dough over to form half-moons. Press edges with fork to seal.
- Heat oil to 350°F (175°C). Fry pies in batches for 2-3 minutes per side until golden. Drain on paper towels.
- Dust with sugar or cinnamon sugar while warm and serve immediately.
Notes
- For an extra kick, add a tablespoon of lemon juice to the apple filling.
- These pies can be served with ice cream for a delightful dessert.
