Description

A rich and moist chocolate cake made with Guinness stout, perfect for any occasion.


Ingredients

  • 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 cup Guinness stout
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs, room temperature
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • Optional: powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round baking pans.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, melt the butter with the Guinness stout. Stir in sugar, eggs, sour cream, and vanilla until smooth.
  4. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients until just combined.
  5. Divide the batter evenly between prepared pans and tap to release air bubbles.
  6. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool in pans for 10 minutes before transferring to wire racks.

Notes

  • This cake can be served plain or with a dusting of powdered sugar on top.
