Ingredients

- 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
- ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 tsp baking soda
- ½ tsp salt
- 1 cup Guinness stout
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 large eggs, room temperature
- 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
- ½ cup sour cream
- Optional: powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round baking pans.
- In a bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In another bowl, melt the butter with the Guinness stout. Stir in sugar, eggs, sour cream, and vanilla until smooth.
- Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients until just combined.
- Divide the batter evenly between prepared pans and tap to release air bubbles.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool in pans for 10 minutes before transferring to wire racks.
Notes
- This cake can be served plain or with a dusting of powdered sugar on top.
- Make sure all ingredients are at room temperature for best results.
